ANNA K. RUSH, ESQ.

Founding Partner

Anna is a Hattiesburg native, who attended undergraduate at Mississippi State University and law school at the University of Mississippi.  While attending law school she was selected for the Moot Court Board, served as President of the Law Association of Women, and was elected as the Student Body Attorney General.  Following law school, Anna worked on Capitol Hill as part of a legislative team for a United States Congressman that focused on Mississippi interests.  She returned to her hometown to practice law and in the fall of 2018, opened Rush Law Firm with the plan to grow the premier multi-practice law firm of South Mississippi. 

 

Anna continues her commitment to civic duty by serving as the lead prosecutor for the City of Hattiesburg, prosecutor for the City of Sumrall, and attorney for the City of Bassfield.   

She is an active member of the Bar Association, currently serving on the executive board for the South Central Mississippi Bar Association, as President of the Hattiesburg Young Lawyers, and as Southeast District Director for the Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Center for Legal Service and Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Program, which aim to provide access to justice for Mississippians who might not otherwise afford legal services. 

 

In the Hattiesburg community, Anna serves on the Hattiesburg Arts Council, Hattiesburg Downtown Association Board of Directors, and the Kids Hub Child Advocacy Board of Directors.

 

In her free time, Anna can be found traveling, constantly renovating her 100-year-old home, and cursing at her vegetable garden.

SHELBY SIMS HARPER,ESQ.

Shelby Sims Harper is a native Mississippian and was born and raised in the Hattiesburg area. She graduated from Oak Grove High School, Go Warriors! She received a B.A. in Political Science from Mississippi State University in 2014 and a J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 2017. She is licensed to practice law in all state courts in Mississippi. 

​

    During her time at MC Law, she participated in many of the limited practice clinics offered, including the Guardian ad Litem clinic, Youth Court clinic, and Child Welfare and Family Justice clinic. Upon graduating, she received the Juvenile and Family Law Certificate. Shelby spent her first summer in law school clerking for Chancellor Dawn H. Beam (currently serving as a Mississippi Supreme Court Justice) in the 10th Chancery District and then went on to spend nearly four years clerking with Thompson Law Firm in Ridgeland, Mississippi, a domestic relations law firm (now Thompson Addison, PLLC).

    Shelby moved back to Hattiesburg in 2019 and recently joined Anna and the Rush Law Firm team in Summer 2021. She also serves as Special Prosecutor for the Forrest County Youth Court. She is looking forward to helping new clients and old to accomplish their legal goals and provide honest and caring representation.

Shelby is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the South Central Mississippi Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the Mississippi Bar, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, the Hattiesburg Area Young Lawyers Association, the Pine Belt Young Professionals, and she represents Rush Law Firm as a member of the Hub City Business Network.

She and her husband, Andrew, live in Hattiesburg with their new baby, James, and attend Venture Church. They enjoy listening to live music around town, especially Keg and Barrel, spending time on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, attending Mississippi State games in Starkville, and traveling together!
